Desarmillaria Tabescens/Ringless Honey Mushrooms. Watercolor and Ink on Arches paper

Thursday, September 18, 2025

I made a few little mushroom paintings on panels that will be for sale at Pittsburg Artwalk this Saturday, along with prints and some other originals. These are all based on mushrooms found while hiking.

A few cyanotypes from last summer and some recent September mushrooms.

I observed this mushroom daily for about a week (until we couldn't put off mowing the lawn any longer, haha). It was so interesting to see it transform through growth and decay.

Iceberg. Digital drawing.

“The Truth doesn't need your cooperation to exist. All forms of cult, all forms of hype, all forms of delusion do require your participation in order to exist. I've looked into marginal areas of human experience - historical and otherwise - with a rational mind, and what I've found is that doorways into the miraculous are far fewer than the publicists of the New Age would have us believe. On the other hand, they are not as rare as the proponents of radical reductionism and materialism would have us believe. There are doorways out of the mundane.”

Worm Moon. I popped this baby into a frame yesterday. I think I'm officially ready for my show at Urban Art Gallery in August.
